Hydrangea macrophylla 'Kompeito' PP 20,998 ~ Double Delights™ Star Gazer HydrangeaStar Gazer Hydrangea is a compact double flowered deciduous shrub rebloomer able to bloom on both old and new wood. Its glossy serrated dark green leaves have no fall color. The mophead clusters bloom blue with white edges in acidic soils and pink with white edges in alkaline soil, with the first bloom in earl summer on old wood then the overwintered buds will bloom again in late summer into fall on new wood. Star Gazer Hydrangea is a compact double-flowered deciduous shrub rebloomer able to bloom on both old and new wood.  Its glossy serrated dark green leaves have no fall color.  The mophead clusters bloom blue with white edges in acidic soils and pink with white edges in alkaline soil, with the first bloom in earl summer on old wood then the overwintered buds will bloom again in late summer into fall on new wood.  If the buds do not survive the winter, there will still be a second bloom just less of them.  These flowers are attractive to butterflies and pollinators.   Best bloom in partial sun and rich, moist well-drained soils.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS:  Medium Maintenance. Mulch soil to maintain moisture and overwinter.  If pruning is needed do so after flowering. Slight susceptibility to bud blight, wilt, leaf spot, and mildew.  Aphids are occasional problems.   

LANDSCAPE USES:  Accents or Group Plantings, Borders, Woodland Gardens, Foundation Plantings, Hedges, Containers.
