Early Georgian Stuart Crystal Cufflinks in CaseThese cufflinks are nearly three hundred years old yet, one could be forgiven for thinking they were from the time of disco! In 1649 King Charles I was executed for treason. Stuart crystal jewellery were made to show support and sympathy for the Stuart monarchy and the deceased king. Each crystal is an elegant square with angular corners and red pink foil backing. Jewels were foil backed to capture all the surrounding light by day or candle light.

Each crystal is an elegant square with angular corners and red-pink foil backing. Jewels were foil backed to capture all the surrounding light by day or candle light. Eightieth Century men were peacocks. They loved flashing a lot of sparkle. The reverse is typical of the shell back design of the period.
Today these cufflinks could easily be turned into two pairs of stud earrings or four rings! What a lot of fun to be had!
