This tightly knotted, hand-made rug is woven in Far South Eastern Anatolia by Turkoman Tribal Weavers up to 60 years ago. This rug features appealing, delicate, floral motifs scattered throughout the Central Field, focusing the eye on the Central Medallion and detailed Borders.
Finely woven and intricately patterned, this rug is more influenced by the fine Oriental weavings intended for Commercial Trade to discerning European buyers than the more rudimentary utilitarian Village weavings made primarily for domestic use. The quality and condition of this rug is first class as the top-grade sheep wool coloured by natural/vegetable dyes used in its' construction and the skill of the weaver have that ensured the longevity and beauty of the rug is preserved, even though it has most certainly "outlived" the shepherds, shearers, spinners, dyers, craftsmen and artists who all contributed to its' creation.
